more about emily

Emily Varnum is a Nashville based singer songwriter who writes music for sensitive girls who cry when they think about their mom being sad. Emily focuses on empathetic lyrics that feel effective to a broad audience. Her music lives somewhere between Sabrina Carpenter and Lizzy Mcalpine.

Emily has performed with Belmont’s premiere gospel and R&B ensemble for three years, gaining attention from artists such as SWV and SZA. In her time with Voxology, she sang pieces by artists such as Danity Kane, Beyoncé, and The Supremes. Within the ensemble Emily helped arrange BGVs and rewrite lyrics. Emily has recorded with Voxology at both Bomb Shelter Studios and Ocean Way Studios in Nashville as a soprano choir member.

Emily draws inspiration primarily from movies and television. She loves writing from the perspective of characters just as much as she enjoys writing about the experiences that happen directly to her. When she isn’t writing music she loves engaging with any other kind of art form.
